On January 26 and 2007, the Digital Curation Institute in collaboration with Software Carpentry will host a free two-day workshop that will teach basic computing skills for research with a computing component.
This hands-on workshop will cover basic concepts and tools including program design, version control, data management, and task automation. Participants will be encouraged to help one another and to apply what they have learned to their own research problems. No experience in any of these subjects is required – this is an introductory workshop!
The workshop will be taught by Pawel Pomorski, Armin Sobhani, and Isaac Ye, with special support from DCI fellow Ian Milligan. Have a look at the workshop website with schedule and details (on github).
